Dear team,

I am new in this forum and no Typo3 expert.

1) In my Typo3 installation pictures are shown only, if they are directely loaded from file. If I understood right from the forums, in my case pictures are never shown if loadad via PHP (= loaded from the directory typo3temp/pics).
Furthermore I am unable to change CHMOD 775 to CHMOD 777 in the directories typo3temp/pics. Is this a user rights problem the provider can/should solve, or is this specific for Typo3?

2) Also in the extensions loaded from the Typo3 Extensions Repository I cannot change CHMOD 775 to CHMOD 777. I think this could possibly be one reason for the fact that I only see some simple text and tables and no nice graphical design after the installation of extensions from the Typo3 Extension Repository.


My question: How can I deal with the CHMOD 775 extension and image scripts/files produced by Typo3/ImageMagick? How can I see the pictures loaded from /pics directory? How can I see graphical design of the extensions? (Fortunately I have at least the rights to finally delete the files within /pics.)

Safe Mode is off.

What can I do? What can I ask my provider to do for me? - I have a hosted domain with limited possibilities, but I think Typo3 should work there.

I am no PHP expert/programmer, but read in the forums it could also have something to do with exec(). Is that right? What else could be the reason?

One remark: I did not forget to delete the /typo3temp directory and all its subdirectories directely after I copied them to the server. Then I created the typo3temp subdirectories "cs", "llxml", "pics", "GB" und "temp" myself. Finally I gave them all CHMOD 777 rights. This worked well. But all /pics files produced after that have the right CHMOD 775, and I am unable to change these rights to CHMOD 777.

I am installing Typo3 since three weeks, and this seems to be the last step. Thank you very much for every hint!!

if you canot change the settings from 777 to xxx
it is possible that the current user u are loged in (terminal) dosn't have any rights to change them

u need to make chown user:grp to that files ...

in my opinion, you do not own the files that cannot be changed by chmod ,
check the users for directorys if they are not the same it´s possible that u don´t have privileges to change the chmod

so you or your provider needs to change the chmod .. or u need root privileges on the server
then you can chown them by your self

use "ls -lha" in your terminal to see the owner and the group...

erstmal vielen Dank für die schnelle Antwort. Das hat mir schon gut weitergeholfen.

Wir brauchen ja nicht auf Englisch weíterzuschreiben. Ich habe das nur gemacht, weil ich diesen Text auch an die englische Typo3-Mailingliste geschickt habe. Ist aber dort bisher unbeantwortet geblieben.

Also, wenn ich das richtig verstanden habe, produzieren Typo3/Imagemagick Dateien, die einen anderen Owner haben als den erforderlichen.

1) Was meinst Du aber mit "u need to make chown user:grp to that files ..."? Wo kann ich den passenden User/die passende Usergruppe anlegen? Kann ich das selbst machen in Typo3?? Das wäre klasse. Wenn ja, wo??

Ich habe nämlich konkret das Problem, das mein Provider ca. 15 Euro für jede Änderung pro angebrochene Viertelstunde verlangt. - Ich habe keine Root-Rechte. Wenn ich das selbst machen könnte, wäre das klasse. Bei mehreren in Zukunft geplanten Typo3-Projekten/Installationen kommt da nämlich einiges zusammen...

2) Wie kann ich denn überhaupt feststellen, wer momentan der offensichtlich "falsche" Owner der betroffenen Verzeichnisse/Dateien ist und wie der "richtige" Owner heißen müsste? Im Explorer und in SmartFTP wird das nicht angezeigt.

vielen Dank für Deinen Tip! Das Problem ist nur: ich habe kein Terminal. Ich nutze SmartFTP. Das ist alles, was ich habe...
Oder kann ich das Terminal irgendwie installieren?

1) Muss ich die richtigen Rechte jetzt doch von meinem Provider (jedesmal gegen Bezahlung) vergeben lassen? Oder:

2) Kann ich den Owner der Typo3-Verzeichnisse/Dateien in Typo3 irgendwo selbst umstellen?? Wenn ja, wo?

Nimm dir am besten einen Provider der dir einen Terminalzugang gibt. Das kostet sehr viel weniger als die EUR 15.-- die du dort pro 15 Minuten zahlen musst.

Schau doch am besten in unserer Providerliste nach.

Die User/Owner müssen an und für sich nur einmal "harmonisiert" werden, das sollte auch nicht lange dauern, vielleicht kämst du so auch mit einmal einer Viertelstunde aus.

Aber ich denke du suchst dir einen der sich auf TYPO3 spezialisiert hat.

Hallo Junior,

vielen Dank für Deine Hilfe.

Falls es doch auch Möglichkeiten gibt, die Rechte innerhalb von Typo3 entsprechend so zu vergeben, dass der richtige Owner die Dateien innehat und die Bilder angezeigt werden, würde ich mich über eine entsprechende Mitteilung sehr freuen. Dann könnte ich nämlich bei meinem jetzigen Provider bleiben, dessen Angebot ansonsten gut ist. Zumindest könnte ich dann die kürzlich für ein Jahr gemietete Domain noch sinnvoll nutzen.

Ich sehe mich unterdessen nach Provider-Alternativen um.
Ideal wäre: insgesamt ca. 10 Datenbanken (weil mehrere Projekte geplant sind), mind. 3 Domains (auch .net und .com), Terminalzugang, günstiger Preis. Das Ganze geht natürlich auf aufgesplittet in Einzeldomains (2-3 Datenbanken pro Domain, Terminalzugang).

Nochmal konkretisierend. Hast du 1 Installation, dann bitte deinen Provider kurz das zu machen, das dauert rund 30 Sekunden.

Setzt du im Monat mehrere Installationen auf, fährst du mit einem Provider der auf TYPO3 spezialisiert ist billiger.
